Love the bag – very cute! I only found out last year that my late Grama was a survivor. She was raped at 14 by a cousin and when she got married promised my Grampa never to tell anyone. He didn’t until she passed away. It makes me angry and so sorry all at once.
    Anyway, thanks for the contest.

Unfortunately being a college professor I’m all to familiar with sexual assault. One in four women on college campuses will be victim of an assault or attempted assault! Amazing, isn’t it? In fact, I had a student this semester who was raped at a party. My greatest advice would be to surround yourself with good friends. She luckily had good friends there with her who convinced her to quickly go to the hospital and report it.

  48. Theresa Shafer Says:
    April 23rd, 2008 at 9:11 am

I survived the lose of my ma – 7 years Lymphoma. I survived the lose of my step-ma to pancreatic cancer, gave her 3 months, she pushed it to 1 year & 2 months.

Advise is: I have seen and i do it myself. I get into the car, swing my purse into the passenger seat, get my keys, Put my seatbelt on, THEN put my leg in or close the door. Or maybe I do all this BEFORE locking my door. I may be inside my car, but that does not mean I am safe from would be predators. So get in car, close door, LOCK door.

Lastly, keep car running if you stop at Bank ATM, you can drive away if someone tries to grab you. Just gas it. The quick lurch forward will give you a good chance of escaping.

Imagine what you would do IF… If you have a plan then when something likes it happens then you will be safer.

If nothing else take a community class on being safer.

READ THE OTHER BLOGS HERE. Good advise.

Hi, Thanks for sponsoring a very nice giveaway drawing. I feel blessed to say that I don’t know about anyone very close to me. I did one time live in another place and a neighbot woman that hadn’t lived there very long, came running over to my house one day. She seemed desperate. She wanted me to take her near the courthouse away from this man. I did what she asked. Thanks,Cindi

Well, this is hard to post here but I will do it. I am a survivor…I’ve struggled with it a lot but I’ve come to accept that it was a part of my LIFE and I did nothing wrong to deserve it.
I now work with women who come from abused situations and provide them counseling and a temporary roof over their head. No one should call themselves a victim, but rather a survivor and a fighter.
